ok alittle while since update
ok it has been awhile again but Pulling for a cure is on hold having alot of issues actually dealing with local hospital and also when it does get done we all want people to have time to get sponsors.

Few Updates
Ok haven't posted in awhile but I have a few things cooking right now.
First PULLING FOR A CURE is alittle thing I am working on what is it?
It is not a contest it is a NATIONAL Fundraiser 24 Hours of Deadlifting
no egos no entry fees no trophies just fun you can pick up a broom stick or 500lbs just like the walks each rep will raise money. This not a New Hampshire thing it is going National right now I think 7 states are on board. All the money raised will go directly to local Childerns Hospitals Cancer Wards. date will be right around christmas.
Second is not confirmed yet but I will probably not run Setting the Record Straight this year, there might be something else going on right now working with Chase on one piece of equipment that can be adapted for atleast 3 events maybe more when he is done, more details to come on that later

This event will be bigger and better then the July 30 2011 event.
Equipment is already being built and we are going OLD SCHOOL

Results from the 2011 Granite State Strongman Competition
What a perfect day for a Strongman Competition! After the initial Giant Dumbbell event that challenged everyone, the remaining four events really got the crowds cheering for more! The Truck Tire deadlift was grueling, but we felt a real sense of comradery among the competitors, and the spectators supporting them. The Truck Pull and Car Wheel Barrel events were popular, leading up to the dramatic finish with the Keg Load event, with a final 325lb back breaking keg!!
Thanks to Seacoast Harley Davidson for their spacious parking lot, and facility. And a big thanks to North American Strongman, Inc. co-operator Willie Wessels, WSM Champion Bill Kazmaier, all the staff and folks that came out to watch this super competition. Thanks to all our wonderful sponsors, and most of all to the strongman men and women. Great job!

Alittle about me
My name is Jim Pierce, I am the North American Strongman Inc. New Hampshire State Chair.
After starting to compete in 2003 at the 2nd Mass. State Contest and retiring in 2007 after competing in about 20 contest. I started the Granite State Strength Challenge(Now the Granite State Strongman/woman Championship) and the Setting the record Straight charity strongman contests raising money for NH Food Bank, and Harbor Homes Veterans FIRST program. Now in 2011 I have decided to end my retirement later this year I will be joining the Master's Division with some other local guys, Bob Toth National Front Hold record holder and Mark Lagasse NH State 15 Inch Deadlift Record Holder.

Ok had great meeting with Seacoast Harley-Davidson they are very excited about the contest. We went over some new ideas.
Paperwork is off to Dione at NAS so we will be offical soon.
Should have some HUGE annoucements soon cannot say what till everything is worked out 100% .
The award package for class winners will be the biggest around valued at over $400 for 1st place (except for novice)

About Granite State Strongman
NH Strongman started out in 2008 when the Granite State Strength Challenge brought N.A.S. ( North American Strongman Inc.) Contests back to the state of New Hampshire after years of no sanctioned contest. This contest grew from the first year of 37 athletes to 73 the second year and the contest keeps growing and helping Raise money for local charites such as NH Food Bank and Harbor Homes VETERANS FIRST program for homeless veterans.
Soon after the first GSSC contest New Hampshires contests grew quickly with New Hampshire's Strongest Man in lebannon NH. Run by Scott Caufield and the RVC crew Scott has moved on to a National Job but Bonnie Macdonald has taken over and she will continue with some great contests.

In 2010 John Duncan decided to try his hand in running contests with the first Heavy For Heroes contest in Hudson NH. With the help of the local guys(Granite State Stonemen) the contests keep getting better all the time and will have a bright future.
